The annual New York Toy Fair is, literally, a universe of toys under one roof. More than 1200 exhibiting companies, thousands upon thousands of never-seen-before toys presented for the very first time to the media, which comes out in droves to cover the event. It’s exhausting walking the Jacob K. Javits Center–all 325,000 square feet of it, but I guess it’s worth it, for there is much fun to be had. Retro remakes (toys of yesteryear with a new twist), As a mom, I must admit I am drawn to toys that engage kids in traditional play patterns. I prefer toys that allow kids opportunity for open ended play, where they can put their imaginations to good use. Here are some snapshots from this year’s event.
