Since 2002, I have spent my professional life working with children’s books, toys and games, first at Scholastic, then at the Toy Industry Association and now at Child’s Play Communications. Although my sons are older now, they still enjoy visiting me at work, as my office is a bit of a mini toy store. Currently, we have a client, Summit Toy that makes Zillionz—toys that are extremely fun while teaching kids about money management. Our office is loaded with cartons of Zillionz including the Animated Funny Farm Bank stacked to the ceiling. These will be sent to the mom bloggers who are in our Team Mom reviewer network or to journalists who cover toys and electronics. Today, as I was on the phone with a potential client, I heard a “cockadoodle doo”–the crowing of a rooster—and then I realized that it was the Animated Funny Farm Bank! I smiled and went back to the call. About an hour later, I was speaking to a colleague and again, “Cockadoodle doo.” My colleague stopped and looked around to see where it was coming from; we both laughed when we realized it was the toy crowing to us!
