Kids and grownups alike had a blast last weekend at ChiTAG, the eighth annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair, which was held at the Navy Pier (in downtown Chicago) from November 20-21st. This event is all about play and it is total fun for all ages. At the registration area, you were “greeted” by a giant Playmobil balloon sculpture. Then, upon entering the expansive exhibit area, there were a slew of booths from a variety of game companies from well known brands such as Hasbro, Spin Master and Lego, to smaller, innovative game companies including Out of the Box, Patch, Neat-Oh, Learning Resources, Buffalo Games, Dig-It, Jeezle Petes and many, many others. Long tables were dispersed throughout the room for adults and kids to sit back and engage in game play. This was a great forum to “test drive” new toys and games in a very relaxed atmosphere—just in time for holiday shopping. ChiTAG is such a terrific concept; I would love to see similar events, which put “play” at the center, take place in other cities, too as game play is a wonderful way for kids and families to connect.
